I use tactical principles that can be used across different FM versions. Concepts such as yin-yang, apply to the control of space. And this holds true in every version.
When testing or learning new concepts, I use the ‘lite’ version of FM, in FM16 this is called FM Touch. Why? Because there is not team gelling component, a team can use various tactics, without the need to wait for the team to get accustomed to it. This makes FMT incredibly useful for testing out the engine. Every decent tactician I know uses FMT as a start. I encourage you to do the same if you are unclear.
